New Events, Characters, and Maps Teased for Overwatch

Since its debut in 2016, Overwatch has been one of the best multiplayer experiences you can have. The hero shooter has spawned a loyal and gigantic following, and it’s easy to see why. The care and effort Blizzard puts into their products is legendary, and Overwatch looks set to continue its dominance in 2018 with content.

Game director Jeff Kaplan had much to say about the plans for the game in 2018 in the recent Developer Update, and fans can look forward to a new event, characters, and of course, maps!

The Blizzard World map announced in 2017 will be coming “very soon,” and will be packed with “tons of great Easter eggs”, in addition to even more “great new maps” in the future. An event for the upcoming Lunar New Year will also be on the horizon, much like 2017’s event for the Year of the Rooster. The Year of the Dog will see “pretty significant content that players are going to be very happy with.” The Uprising and Anniversary events from the previous year will also return and all events should see changes to set themselves apart from their previous iterations.

Kaplan also teased a new character, referred to as Hero 27, who is a new “very needed” character that is currently in internal testing, but the development team has no release date yet.
