Neill Blomkamp’s Zygote Might Be The Best 20-mins of Horror in 2017

If you are a fan of District 9 and Elysium, then Neill Blomkamp is a familiar name to you. Once attached to direct the modern-day sequel to the Aliens saga, the auteur has made his name directing thought provoking masterpieces that transcends the medium itself. Now pursuing his passions outside the confines of movie studios, Blomkamp’s Oats Studios has been consistently producing awesome content for fans, and now we have a true gem.

Zygote plays out like a mashup of The Thing, Aliens and Dead Space, a 20-minutes ride of horror and gore. Starring Dakota Fanning, the premise of a mining operation gone wrong when a monster shows up is not exactly fresh material, but throw in a hideous abomination made up literally of body parts of fallen mining crew and we have a winner. This is definitely one of the highlights of horror for 2017 and you have to watch it.

If you want more, there is also Rakka starring Sigourney Weaver, who faces off against big lizard-alien monsters, and Firebase, an alternate take on the Vietnam War with a beast that can raise the dead.
