Gamescom 2017 Recap: Day 3 – SNES 3DS XL, Destiny 2 & more!

We are halfway done with Gamescom 2017, and the news just keeps on coming, here’s a new batch of gaming news, trailers, and all-around awesomeness for the third day of this year’s Gamescom!


Super Nintendo Entertainment System Classic Edition

The Super NES Classic Edition has sold out almost everywhere, and that’s no surprise. At Gamescom 2017, Nintendo has further detailed more information about the mini console. The Rewind feature will allow you to roll back time in any of the 21 games, be it to prevent death or collect a missed item. The amount of time you will be able to rewind depends on the game, with Nintendo stating that RPGs like Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars will allow you to go back a few minutes, while Super Mario World’s limit is about 40 seconds. The console will also come with optional vanity frames that will appear around each game’s display, and of course, custom saves states for the classic games.


Destiny 2

That is one badass trailer, setting the stage nicely for more Guardians to rejoin the world of Destiny 2 this September. We are definitely excited for this one, especially those playing on PC, enjoy the eye-watering 4K, 60FPS gameplay on the Inverted Spire strike.


Call of Duty: WWII

Introducing the Headquarters, a dedicated social space in Call of Duty: WWII. Players will be able to practice at the Firing Range, man AA guns to earn rewards, challenge others in the 1v1 Pit, and even watch eSports matches in the Theater. Check it out this coming November 3.


Dragon Ball FighterZ

The highly anticipated brawler from ARC System Works looks better and better, and the trailer introduced more characters joining the roster, namely Android 16, Android 18, Krillin, Piccolo, and Trunks!


Fire Emblem Warriors

Coming this Fall on the Switch, it is time to venture back into the world of Fire Emblem, Warriors-style. Bringing back many favourites of the series, clash with legions of soldiers and monsters as  Leo, Takumi, Hinoka, Camilla, and other Fire Emblem heroes to save the world from the Chaos Dragon!


Final Fantasy XV: Pocket Edition

Following the announcement of Final Fantasy XV hitting PC soon, Pocket Edition will launch later this year for iOS, Android, and Windows 10 devices. Retelling the story of FFXV over 10 downloadable episodes, it is a bite-sized experience of the JRPG. Expect a simplified version of the console releases, with chibi graphics.


New Nintendo 3DS XL – Super Nintendo Entertainment System Edition

That is a mouthful. European fans of the Nintendo handheld has more reasons to rejoice, as the sweet looking new version of the 3DS XL will launch October 13.

Marvel Vs. Capcom Infinite

One of the many fighting games to release in 2017, here we got a look at a few matches from Gamescom 2017. Judging from this preview, MvC has its work cut out for it when compared to the other impressive fighting games like Injustice 2 and Dragon Ball FighterZ.


Splatoon 2/ARMS

Nintendo announced a few additions to their two latest IPs that have just arrived on the Nintendo Switch. Splatoon 2 will be getting two new stages for players to paint over, with Manta Maria launching over the weekend for both Turf War and Ranked Battle. Lost Outpost should be available by the time you read this as a Salmon Run stage for both local and online multiplayer. A new weapon, the Bubble Blower was also revealed as part of the set with the Forge Splattershot Pro, coming this September 1.

For ARMS, the colourful Lola Pop will be joining the roster of fighters and brings with her a new arena that is candy-themed, they will both arrive in the next update for ARMS.


NARUTO TO BORUTO: SHINOBI STRIKER

It’s time to create your own Ninja! Form a team of four and battle it out around the world and aim to become the best in the Ninja League. This iteration will introduce the Avatar System, allowing players to customise their own Ninja to stand out from the crowd. Coming in 2018, for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.


The Crew 2

The release date for The Crew 2 has been unveiled, coming on March 16, 2018, Ubisoft’s driving game will feature the “Fast Fav” system, allowing players to jump instantaneously between their favourite rides on land, air, and sea throughout the game.


ANNO 1800

The Anno series is going back to the Victorian era, complete with big ships, rapid industrialization, and burgeoning trade empires. It will be out in Winter 2018.


BioMutant

Following Day 2’s reveal, we now have actual gameplay footage from the upcoming BioMutant!
